Just before Thanksgiving break, we had the opportunity to attend artist Jen Bradley’s opening exhibit at the Brooks School Lehman Art Center. Jen’s work is absolutely fascinating to say the least. Our friend and colleague, Amy Graham, who directs the center, brought Jen on campus for the week to engage in art courses and work with students on their own studio work, while show casing her own pieces. It was interesting sharing a glass of wine while talking to Jen about the process of her work, and the amount of time spent observing Apes, in constructing her exhibit.
According to Jen, “The habitual practice of drawing these creatures has become a ritual, an act of worship for me,” as she noted to Brooks about her exhibition: Portraits, Prophets, and Friends. We have had the honor of meeting two artist on campus this fall. Watching faculty and students spend time dissecting each piece of art was most interesting; however, the time spent talking to Jen about her passion and her work was the highlight.
